Overview
Region Installation Support Team (RIST) Course is designed for RIST Staff Officers and RIST members assigned to Installation Management Command (IMCOM) regions. This 2-week course is held at AMSC, Fort Belvoir, Virginia, campus, two times per year with 40 students per class.
This course addresses the garrison mission, the Standard Garrison Organization (SGO) and the functions of the directorates and support offices of the SGO. It also addresses the coordination functions of the RIST team members to communicate requirements and information and work to resolve open actions at the IMCOM Headquarters, regions and garrisons. The course also addresses the roles, mission and functions of the IMCOM Region Installation Support Team, Functional Support Teams and the IMCOM CORE Staff:
- The IMCOM Region Installation Support Team (RIST) member is the advocate within the Region and HQ, IMCOM to articulate Garrison requirements and communicate requests for assistance, resources, or other requirements. This person also serves as entry point for resolution of Garrison customer service issues coming to the Region from the Functional Support Team and/or Garrison and maintains the Army Action Tracking System (A2TS) automated system to collect, process, and analyze data.
- IMCOM Functional Support Teams (FST) provide functional expertise and serves as entry point for all day to day staff issues from the Region Command Group, RIST, and/or Garrison to the IMCOM Headquarters. FST members will conduct audits, assistance visits and inspections as directed or required. They also exercise tasking authority to the garrison.
- IMCOM CORE Staff functions as a consultant, answers questions or provides advice to the RIST and FST. The CORE Staff balances Headquarters and Region requirements, provide guidance and direction, set priorities, resource the FST and support with reach back functional expertise to resolve Region and garrison issues.
