Historic Fort Belvoir is a beautiful installation, with a unique and complex mission. The base was founded during World War I as Camp A. A. Humphreys, named for Andrew A. Humphreys. The post was renamed Fort Belvoir in the 1930s to honor the historic Belvoir Manor, the home of Thomas Fairfax, 6th Lord Fairfax of Cameron.

Fort Belvoir is home to one Army major command headquarters and elements of 10 others; 19 different agencies and direct reporting units of the Department of Army; eight elements of the U.S. Army Reserve and the Army National Guard; and 26 DoD agencies. Also located here are a Marine Corps detachment, a U.S. Air Force activity, and an agency from the Department of the Treasury.

Fort Belvoir has changed in many ways over the past several years, but some things will always remain the same. As dedicated stewards of the environment, Belvoir will always mean "Beautiful To See."

Fort Leavenworth stands as the oldest continuously active Army post west of the Mississippi River. Since its founding in 1827, it has significantly evolved and today, as part of Installation Management Command - West Region, the Fort Leavenworth Garrison supports the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) by managing and maintaining the home of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center (CAC). CAC's mission involves leader development, collective training, Army doctrine, and battle command (current and future).

Fort Leavenworth also accommodates the Department of Defense's only maximum security prison, the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks. In addition, the Fort Leavenworth Garrison supports numerous tenant organizations that directly and indirectly relate to the functions of the CAC.

Fort Leavenworth's proud history of service underscores the Garrison's stated purpose "to provide an environment for people to grow and flourish in service to the nation;" and this purpose underpins our mission statement "...to support readiness and mission execution - provide equitable services and facilities, optimize resources, sustain the environment and enhance the well-being of the Military community."
